Following the success of my previous expedition to Devon and Dorset I am returning in February. This time we will be staying in two locations using the convenience of Premier Inns. The first two nights will be near Seaton, a good location for Lyme Regis and Babbacombe and Burnham on Sea and the workshop has been planned to coincide with a particularly high tide during this week, we may also call into Wells cathedral to shoot the Chapter house steps, great location. The next three nights will be based in a Premier Inn near Poole. This makes getting to locations like Old Harry Rocks, Swanage, Corfe Castle and Kimmeridge a lot easier. Staying nearer to the photogenic locations means we will be able to explore them at the optimum times of the day, sunrise and sunset.
A trip to the South West wouldn't be complete without a visit south to Lyme Regis to photograph the Cob and its environs including the delightful little villages of Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton as well as a very special little location near Torquay.
We will then spend two days exploring the wonderful Jurassic Coast including Corfe Castle, Kimmeridge Bay, Old Harry Rocks, Swanage Pier, Chapmans Pool, Durdle Door and other nearby locations.
As well as being guided, with a fantastic ratio of up to 6 clients to one workshop leader, you can also rest assured that you will be able to spend lots of time working on a one to one basis to not only capture some fantastic images, but more importantly to further your skills. Whether you are a beginner who needs to learn some of the more technical aspects of exposure, depth of field and filters, or a more advanced photographer who wants to really hone their compositional skills, your needs will be catered for. Places are limited to six clients to ensure plenty of tuition during your visit. There is the possibility of shared cost return transport from Preston, Lancashire (limited to two clients). The workshop fee includes single occupancy quality accommodation, full tuition during the day and post processing sessions in the evening. Technical skills including the use of filters for dramatic effect will be explored. This will cover neutral density filters to slow the shutter speed creating atmospheric water movement, graduated neutral density filters to balance the exposure between the land and sky, and extreme 'big stopper' filters to create wonderful movement in the clouds and water. Technical aspects will be explored including achieving accurate exposure using the manual setting of the camera along with making creative decisions regarding aperture and depth of field.
The workshop fee includes single occupancy accommodation, full 1-2-1 tuition during the day and post processing sessions in the evening. Partners who do not wish to participate in the photography tuition are welcome at a reduced rate. A deposit of 50% of the workshop fee is required to secure your place, this can be paid by direct bank transfer. Complete the online Booking Form to reserve your place. Terms and conditions can be found on the booking form.
Book with confidence: If you need to cancel and I can re-sell the place you will receive a full refund. If I cannot resell the place you will only be liable for my unrecoverable expenses which will be your share of the accommodation cost (you will not be liable to pay for tuition fees). If government legislation means that the workshop cannot proceed for legal reasons and I cannot recover the accommodation costs you will receive the tuition fee back less an equal share of the accommodation cost. This is normally in the region of £140 per person but varies with the accommodation.
